I stumbled across this SBL presentation paper today:
Douglas A. Campbell, “The Faithfulness of Jesus Christ in Romans and Galatians (with special reference to Romans 1:17 & 3:22).” SBL, 2007.
You too can download yourself a copy.
This follows up an earlier essay that he wrote back in 2002 addressing Jesus in Romans and Galatians:
Douglas A. Campbell, “The Story of Jesus in Romans and Galatians.” In Narrative Dynamics in Paul: A Critical Assessment. Edited by Bruce W. Longenecker. Louisville: Westminster John Knox Press, 2002. 97-124.
In his first footnote he says that the material in this presentation was primarily drawn from his forthcoming book: The Deliverance of God: An Apocalyptic Rereading of Justification in Paul. Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 2008. He promises that the section on Galatians is 52,000 words long, so it should provide some food for thought. It’s due out in the middle of December so we don’t have too long to wait although at almost 1400 pages it is a little pricey (especially in Canada). 0802831265, 9780802831262.
Campbell has also penned two other article on the faith/faithfulness issue:
Douglas A. Campbell, “False Presuppositions in the Pistis Christou Debate: A Response to Brian Dodd.” Journal of Biblical Literature. 116:4 (1997): 713-719.
Douglas A. Campbell, “Romans 1:17–A Crux Interpretum for the Pistis Christou Debate.” Journal of Biblical Literature. 113:2 (1994): 265-285.
