I just became aware of a new commentary series, Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture, which includes a forthcoming commentary on Galatians by Ronald D. Witherup. ht Rico. There is no projected date of publication so it could be a few years off. This series includes the NAB translation. Obviously this is a Roman Catholic commentary and I am interested to see how it handles Galatians 2:6:
“But from those who were reputed to be important (what they once were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)—those of repute made me add nothing” (NAB).
“And from those who were supposed to be acknowledged leaders (what they actually were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)—those leaders contributed nothing to me” (NRSV).
Witherup has also written 101 Questions and Answers of Paul. New York: Paulist, 2003. 0809141809. The review by Jeffrey Lamp can be read on bookreviews.org.
Below is the bibliographic information. I have also updated my list of commentaries by series. I should make it into a page instead of a blog post, I suppose. Next time :).
