Bird and Whitenton on the faithfulness of Christ

The latest issue of NTS is now out and there is another article on the πίστις Χριστοῦ debate. An abstract can be read here.

Michael F. Bird and Michael R. Whitenton, “The Faithfulness of Jesus Christ in Hippolytus’s De Christo et Antichristo: Overlooked Patristic Evidence in the Πίστις Χριστοῦ Debate.” New Testament Studies. 55:4 (2009): 552-562.

I also discovered that Whitenton is the author of Ecce Homo; he posts about his debut article here. Congratulations Michael(s) and feel free to send me a copy of your article so I don’t have to wait two years to read it :D . Bird is also an avid blogger but hasn’t yet mentioned the release of this issue. I’ll also add this article to my bibliography page on this subject (see the link at the top of my blog).

Michael Bird on blessing and sonship in Galatians

Michael F. Bird has posted a short blog entry noting the contrast between Galatians 3:14 blessing/Spirit and Galatians 4:6 sonship/Spirit. He notes that while the former is clearly spoken to Gentiles the latter is likely meant for Jewish believers. Head on over for the whole story.
